Very well said as was your post concerning Yom Kippur. The point is that becoming a self-actualized adult like what Abraham Maslow, Christ or Gandhi or M. L. King envisioned us to be isn't as even and linear as it seems.
It usually takes a big event. I grew up more after becoming a father. Some grow up when a loved one dies. It can either happen by an event or a epiphanal moment.
Set high expectations for yourself, but also be patient with your progress. That's not as contradictory as it seems.
